How to Pack a Maternity Bag
May 24, 2010 | In: Parenting

It is always best to be prepared. Even if you’re only on your 7th month and it’s still a couple of months before your due date, try to prepare your maternity bag. You’ll never know when your bundle of joy decides to pop out.
There are some essentials (which are listed below) that you need to pack. The hospital will be providing you with some of these but it is better to bring your own.
Get the biggest bag that you can find. Make sure that everything you will pack (both your stuff and baby’s) will fit there. You don’t need to bring a lot of clothes as your partner or someone else can come in to bring them in the next days after the birthing. You can pack these in a separate bag so your partner won’t have to rummage through drawers.
Get a car seat ready for baby. Most hospitals won’t allow you to leave if your car does not have this in it.
Here is the promised list of items for your maternity bag:
- a change or two of stretchy clothes
- toiletries (toothbrush, toothpaste, travel-sized shampoo, soap, etc.)
- slippers and socks
- feminine pads
- camera (for those precious moments)
- cellphone and charger
- stuff for entertainment – puzzles, magazines, books
- notebook and a pen
And for baby:
- a whole lot of hats, sweater, booties, etc.
- baby oil and lotion
- a brush
- diapers and blankets
- bottles and formula
- nail clippers
- baby wipes
