Part of the backpacking experience is packing your own food. If you’re new to this type of travel adventure, here are some stuff you might want to bring with you for nourishment:
Choose food that is rich in carbohydrates for all the hiking, and walking, and climbing you’ll be doing. Make sure that the food you’ll bring should be low in moisture so they won’t spoil easily.
To avoid monotony, you can try different meals such as seasoned rice, prepackages pastas, trail food, nutes, dried fruit, and chocolate bars.
You can even make your own trail mix. Simply combine dried fruits and small biscuits or pretzels.
Pack emergency food that do not require cooking. Separate them from the rest of your food. Bring a little extra food. This might add weight at first but you’ll be consuming them eventually.
Pack your food in watertight plastic bags to conserve space.
Consult with a nutritionist if you’ll be gone for the weeks. This is to make sure you won’t be malnourished during your trip.
