How to Pack Medicine When Traveling

June 25, 2010 | In: Travel

f you are taking medication and you are to travel to another country, it is best to bring your medicine with you. However, you need to be aware of the following:

Check whether you are allowed to transport your medicine. If you need syringes, etc, inform your airline.

Go to your doctor and explain your situation. If you need to have a larger prescription, your doctor will make sure you get it. This is good for inhalers, pills, and liquid medicines.

Take your doctor’s prescription note with you when you travel, just in case. It is also best if you have a written description of your condition from your doctor. If you have implants, bring an x-ray copy of your implants. This might be needed when you are being checked by security.

You can also consult your doctor regarding the generic names of the medicines you are taking, or alternatives which you can take for your condition. This will help you when you need to buy emergency supplies when abroad.

Keep medications in original packaging. If it will help you monitor, make a chart covering the days when you are traveling. Tick as soon as you take your medicine.
