How to Pass a Vehicle Inspection

June 23, 2010 | In: Motoring

Passing a vehicle inspection is quite easy, if you take good care of your vehicle, which means making sure you have the oil changed regularly and have it checked periodically.

Before handing your car over for a vehicle inspection, you can do it on your own to make sure your car will pass expert eyes.

Check the exhaust system of your vehicle and look for leaks. Inspect the muffler and make sure that you replace it if in case it has been tampered with. Don’t forget to clean the air filter as well. This is important as you will fail the emissions test if you neglect these steps.

Make sure that all vehicle lights are working. These include brights, headlights, brake lights, and turning signals. If there are bulbs that are burnt out, replace them.

Next thing to check are the tires. Make sure that the tread is more than 1/16th of an inch. If they’re less than 1/16th of an inch, then replace.

Check the windshield and other glass parts for cracks. Replace if necessary.

Finally, check the body panels and make sure nothing is falling off of the vehicle, specially bumpers.
