Easter is coming soon! And kids will be looking forward to those wonderful, traditional, colorful Easter eggs.

Here are a few tips on how to prepare eggs for decorating:

Choose the eggs that you will use carefully. Make sure that they are fresh, clean, and unbroken. Look for even the tiniest of cracks.

If you only wish to use the eggshells, you can empty eggs using a tried-and-tested method. Acquire a large needle. Make sure that it is sterilized. Pierce the pointed end of the egg. Turn the egg around and make a bigger hole (about 1/4 of an inch) on its rounder end. Very carefully, move the needle around inside the egg. This will break the yolk. Hold the egg over a bowl and blow gently through the smaller hole. This will empty the shell.Wash the inside of the shell thoroughly and let it dry completely.

If you wish to hard-cook eggs, just place the eggs in a single layer in a saucepan. Add cool tap water. Make sure that the eggs are covered by an inch. Heat to almost boiling. Simmer for 10 minutes. Do not let it boil. Remove the eggs with a slotted spoon. Transfer to a bowl of cold water and leave for 5 minutes. Refrigerate immediately and use within a week. These hard-cooked eggs can be removed from refrigeration to leave at room temperature for up to two hours.
