How to Prepare Your Skin for Make-up

February 23, 2009 | In: Women's Fashion

make-upPreparing your skin before applying make-up is a very important step. Not only does it help your skin to be more receptive to make-up, it also protects your skin from being too clogged.

Step 1
Wash your hands and pin back your hair.

Step 2
Wash your face and neck with warm water and a non abrasive gentle wash. Just place a little of the product on your fingers and gentle massage into your skin using circular movements and avoiding the eye area. Rinse off well and pat skin dry.

Step 3

Use cotton to swipe your face with toner. Make sure that the product isĀ  apt for your skin type (i.e. oily, dry, combination, etc.) This will close your pores and protect them from being clogged. Avoid the eye area. Wait until the toner completely dries.

Step 4
Hydrate your skin with moisturizer. Whatever type of moisturizer you get, make sure that it has built-in SPF 15 to protect your skin from the sun’s UV rays. Place a little moisturizer on your fingers and gentle massage into your skin using circular movements and avoiding the eye area.

Step 5
Hide pimples, spots, and other blemishes with a concealer cream or stick. Apply using fingertips and blend it in. Make sure that you leave no line between the concealer and the surrounding skin. You can also use concealer to minimize the dark circles under your eyes. Pat to blend.

Step 6
Apply make-up.
