Job Interview
This is one topic that many can’t get enough of. Any tips on job search and on job interviews always seem to be very welcome. So here are more tips on what to do during a job interview.
Dress appropriately. No matter what position you are applying for, dress for the top position. Avoid too casual and too sexy clothes. Make sure that what you are wearing is clean and neat, and your shoes polished.
Always be punctual. Come about 30 to 15 minutes before the time of the interview. This will give you enough time to take a breath and compose yourself. It will also give you enough time to fill out pre-interview forms the company might hand out.
Turn off your cell phone before going inside the interview room. It is distracting even if you do not answer it. Throw away candy or bubble gum you may have in your mouth.
Greet the interviewer. Don’t forget to shake the interviewer’s hand, even if he or she does not extend it. Make sure that your handshake is firm but not too strong. If your hand is sweaty, you may discreetly wipe it off at the side of your pants or skirt.
Sit down only when the interviewer indicates that you may. If he or she forgets, then it is okay to ask if you may have a seat. Sit comfortably but with good posture. Do not lean back against your chair as this may look too comfortable and too lazy.
Keep the conversation polite. Set the tone of your voice so that it’s not too loud or too soft. Try to speak in moderate speed as well. Keep your facial expression neutral. Smile but do not reveal if you’re nervous or if you’re finding the questions a little too difficult to answer. Never ask the salary.
Don’t forget to thank the interviewer once the interview is over.
