How to Properly Leave a Dinner Table

Here are some good manners tips on how to properly leave the table during a meal. This is especially helpful if you are going out on a first date or if you have been asked to dinner as a guest.
If you need to get up from the table for any reason, always say “Please excuse me” or “Excuse me” with the latter being more formal. It doesn’t matter if you’re eating with just a partner or a bigger group. It is always nice to hear someone being polite.
When you get up, put your seat back in place. If you are a lady, a gentleman usually pulls out your chair for you and puts it back to place (or the waiter does it if you are dining in a posh restaurant). Otherwise, put your seat back in place.
Get up gracefully. Don’t be in a hurry and careless. The grace and carefulness you’ve made sure to maintain during the actual meal will all go to waste if you knock a glass just because you left in a hurry.
