How to Pull-off Wearing Jeans to Work
February 4, 2009 | In: Fashion, Men's Fashion
Wearing jeans to work is only a crime if you don’t know how to pull the look off. First things first, assess your office environment. If the set-up is more casual than business, then you can, by all means, wear a pair of jeans.
The catch is, there are jeans, and there are jeans. You still want to remain a more professional front despite the more laidback and comfortable feel of wearing jeans to work. Those that you cannot wear are the following:
Clubbing/concert jeans – those with intricate stitches, or those glued with rhinestones and sewn-on chains.
Ragged jeans with frayed cuffs.
Too tight or baggy jeans.
So what should you wear then?
The safest choice is a pair of dark denim which can look good with sweaters and dress boots. You can even posh it up with a blazer and dress shoes.
Try straight-cut styles as they are more versatile. You can be less formal if you wear them with dress sneakers, or more business-like if you pair them with dressy oxfords. Invest in two or three good pairs and you’ll get more time out of them over the years.
Make sure that they fit like a pair of casual trousers – not too tight and not too loose.
