When in a Road Accident

It is not everyday that we encounter road accidents, but it is always better to be prepared well in case something unsavory happens. Here are some tipz on how to make sure you keep your wits with you during such a time:

The first thing you need to do is to be calm. There is no need to aggravate the situation by being hysterical. Regardless of the gravity of the accident, always check if you and anyone else with you in the vehicle are okay. If medical assistance is needed, call for it. Allow yourselves to be checked by medical professionals. You may not show wounds or gashes, but you may have internal injuries.

Take a picture of the accident area, even if it’s just by using your cell phone’s camera. Include damages suffered by vehicles and the condition of the scene. This might be helpful if you need to settle claims of damages.

If the accident involves another vehicle, collect the names and addresses of everyone involved in the accident. Don’t accept offers of settlement on the spot. Make sure you have your lawyer with you when you do. Get their contact information and ask for an ID so you can get in touch later on.
