How to Relieve Tension Headaches
July 21, 2010 | In: Health

Tension headaches are caused by stress and yes, tension. One good way to relieve tension headaches is to try and relax, or practice relaxation techniques when you feel the onset of a headache. You can do breathing exercises, yoga or stretches, go for a walk, or even meditate.
Try not to focus too much on the headache. Stressing over it will only make it worse. You can take a nap, or if you want, take a nice shower or a bath and lie down. Place a warm compress on your head and relax.
Change your lifestyle. Think of the things that stress you out and try to find out ways to make things easier. If the morning rush hour always seems to set your day off in a bad way, then perhaps waking a bit earlier can help you avoid it.
Drink hot tea or soup. Comfort foods such as these might be able to soothe your frayed nerves away.
