How to Respond to RSVP’s
April 26, 2010 | In: General, Self Improvement, Special Occassions

The RSVP written on invitations means, “Répondez s’il vous plaît”, which is a French word for “Respond if it pleases you.” If you see this on an invitation you’ve received here is what you need to do:
Be prompt in your respons, whether it’s a yes or a no. Responding within the next two days upon receipt of the invitation is considered correct.
You can phone in your RSVP, especially if the invitation lists a phone number. State your name. Thank the host (if the call is received by a person who is not your host, you can mention your host’s name). Mention your name and the person who is going with you and repeat the occassion, the date, the time and the venue. You can also leave your contact number if you wish.
You can also reply using response card, if this is included in the invitation. Fill out the card and post by mail immediately.
If there is no phone indicated on the invitation and if there is no response card as well, then you can write your response in a note or a simple card and mail it to your host. State your reason for declining.
Do not use e-mail unless the invitation is sent via e-mail or an e-invite.
