Toy Safety

Anything, even toys made for children, can be dangerous to children if not handled or stored properly. Here are a few tips on how to make sure the kids don’t get involved in any unwanted accidents during playtime.

Never let your children play with toys that are not age appropriate. There’s a reason why manufacturers indicate the age range appropriate for specific toys. Some toys have parts that can be swallowed by children younger than 3 years of age.

Read instructions that come with the toys carefully, specially those toys that need to be assembled. This will make sure that you give them to your children safe and sturdy. You won’t need to worry about them falling from a rocking-horse and the likes.

Check toys for sharp points and edges. Discard them, or if impossible, cover the edges with thick tape. Discard broken toys.

Children should always be supervised during playtime. You can have simple rules that young children can follow. Not only will you be able to keep an eye on your children, but you can also reinforce discipline at the same time.

Store toys in plastic or wooden chests that are large enough for all the toys to be placed in them. Keep these containers in a safe and well-lighted place. These containers should also be movable enough. You can keep them in your room when it is not play time and take them out only when scheduled.

If the toys your children want to play with need proper equipment such as helmets, gloves, etc. Then provide your kids these as well.
