Saving Gas Money

Gas prices have considerably gone down. But if you can still further save money by not taking a car at all, then why not leave the car at home and consider alternatives? Here are some suggestions:

Use public transport. Most cities have efficient public transportation systems. Perhaps you would like to take the bus or the commuter train to work. They are quite inexpensive if compared to the money you’ll be spending on gas and keeping your car properly maintained. Public transport may not be as convenient as driving a car but you can definitely read the morning paper or go over some papers for work while sitting.

Form a car pool with friends. Arrange a car pooling system with your co-workers who live near you or neighbors whose offices are near yours. You can take turns in bringing a car and driving the others to and from work. Sharing the driving responsibilities means you not only save gas and mileage for your car but for the others as well.

Work at home. Because of technology, most companies allow their employees to work at home a day or a few days each week. Why not take advantage of this scheme. Instead of going through the rush hour hassle, you can just take your sweet time in the morning (provided that you log in at the required hour) and just telecommute from home.
