During an economic crisis, it doesn’t hurt to look for ways to cut on expenses to add more to your saivings. Here are some tipz on how to do some budget food shopping:

The number one tip we can give you is this – always make a grocery list and STICK to it. Make sure that you only include the stuff that you really NEED at home. If you know the layout of your grocery store, then list down the items by order of the aisle. This way you won’t waste time going from one end of the store to the other. This will only let you go through aisles and see items that you WANT to buy. When you’re doing your actual shopping, cross off the lists you’ve got in your cart and move on to the next items until you finish.

Aside from creating a list and sticking to it, have a food budget. Compute all your food expenses for the past several months and get the average amount. That would be your monthly food budget. Try to stick to it as much as possible.

Use coupons. Nothing wrong with using those. They’re free if you just save them from paper money savers. And you can save up to 85% on your food bill.

Pre-packaged food costs more. They’re not only expensive, they’re not filling as well. Make your own meals or start learning.

Buy dry goods in bulk. You can save money by buying only the fresh produce whenever you need them.
