How to Set up a Succesful Bazaar

January 30, 2009 | In: Community, Finance

Planning to set up a bazaar for some extra cash? Here are some tips that would help you make it a success:

1.  Assign a leader for each booth. As much as possible, select one who has the expertise and the time and devotion to the task.

2. Put a person in charge of publicity. Spread the word far and wide. Put notices on community bulletin boards and don’t forget to give away fliers. You may also ask for donations from local businesses in exchange for publicity.

3. Assign a central booth where volunteers can ask for help, supplies, or change for money. This would also ensure that help is readily available. Time won’t be wasted by locating the people-in-charge for inquiries.

4. If your bazaar runs for more than one day, hold a strategy meeting after the first day so as to find out if there is still room for improvement. Perhaps you may need to change some things. This will give you time to re-arrange stuff such as consolidating booths and marking down items which are not selling well.

5.  When selling, consider traditional bestsellers such as ornaments and children’s items. Try to sell materials which are overpriced in stores.  The prices should be at least 30% to 50% less. Consider going along with the season or coming occasion (Valentines, Christmas, harvest, etc.).
