Children’s Bedtime
Putting kids to sleep can be a chore, especially if you’ve been out working the whole day. Here are some tipz to make sure that your children’s bedtime won’t be an opportunity for having more stress:
Decide on a set bedtime – something not too early or not too late. 8 or 9 PM is usually just the right time. This would make sure that you have ample time to go home, have dinner, and spend some quality family time together. If you set your kids’ bedtime for 8, make sure that you have at least an hour of quiet time before that. No eating of sweets, no noisy music or TV show, or any other activity that would only wind them up.
Do not allow electronic gadgets in the bedroom such as a radio, TV, cellphones, computers, game consoles, etc. These would only be distractions for your children and you won’t be able to put them to sleep if you have them in the same room where they rest.
Make reading a bedtime story a habit. Not only will it develop a love for books in your children, but it is also a relaxing activity just apt for winding down before bedtime.
Turn off the light and ignore ploys of getting you back in the room (except for emergencies, of course). Make sure your children know that once lights are out, it’s sleeping time.
