How to Shine Shoes

Polishing Shoes
Make a good first impression by showing up at an interview or a date with neat and polished shoes. Here’s how to outshine those shoe shine professionals:
Clean dust and dirt off your shoes by using a slightly damp cloth or a shoe brush. Select a shoe polish (can be wax or cream) that matches the shade of the leather of your shoes.
Apply a conservative amount of the polish on the leather using a shoe-polish brush and brush in circular motions. When you’re done, your shoes should be fully covered by a dull coating. Let the polish dry for about fifteen minutes.
Brush the shoes with a shoeshine brush. Buff to shine with a clean cotton cloth. You can use old socks or a piece of an old t-shirt.
Just remember that patent leather and suede shouldn’t be polished. Although “convenient,” instant shoe polishes can actually harm leather.
