moneyKeeping Cash in Your Home

It’s not always advisable to leave cash lying around at home as fire or floods could render your life savings gone in an instant. It’s always best to just place your money in your bank accounts (banks are insured) or get a fireproof safe that you can bolt on the floor. But if you still feel the need to stash some of your cash in inconspicuous places for emergencies, then by all means, here are some ideas.

Get a box of baking soda. Empty half of its contents. Insert some of your bills inside. Put back the baking soda. Leave in your refrigerator. Who would think to look there? Presto! You’ve effectively have frozen your assets!

Look around your house. It might have wonderful nooks and crannies which can substitute for a safe.

Do you have wooden floors? A loose floorboard can hide a wad of cash. Just wrap in plastic and tape it underneath. Don’t forget to replace the floorboard – and that you have cash there.

One common thing people do when they want to hide their valuables is to create a hole in the wall. Money and jewelry are put inside before placing a framed print, painting or picture on it for a cover.

Most finished basements have drop ceilings. Tiles can be removed. Like the loose floorboard, you can tape cash to the hidden side and replace the tile.

The last place robbers would look are feminine protrection products. Stash some cash in a box of tampons and pads which you can store in your underwear drawer. I assure you they will not look inside there!

Yup. We know we’ve helped some baddies with this post too. :p
