Working on a regular 9-5 schedule everyday is tough enough, what more if you work shifts? Here are some tipz which would help you cope with the irregular work schedule.
Establish your sleep cycle. Appoint certain hours of the day for your sleep. For example, if you get off at 6 AM, you may want to go to sleep at around 8 AM until 4 PM. It doesn’t have to be plenty of sleep, just peaceful and relaxing sleep will do.
The best way to make sure that you are not distracted by people who lead “normal” lives is to let them know your schedule. If you do not live alone and cannot enjoy the luxury of blesses silence during the day, then tape your schedule for the week on the refrigerator door. Place a do not disturb sign on your bedroom door. This way, they’ll do their best to keep their noise to a minimum. Buy earplugs if you are a light sleeper. Unplug the phone and turn your mobile to silent mode just to be sure.
Don’t forget to eat. It’s easy to forget to chow down fuel especially when your body is not operating on its regular schedule. But remember, this is also the time when you need nourishment the most. Device a meal plan so you can eat three filling meals everyday. Just remember to healthy too. Junk and instant foods may be convenient they won’t be filling, and chances are you’ll gain weight eating chemical and sugar-laden food all the time.
Exercise. Brisk-walk or enroll in a gym. Your choice whether you do it before or after work. The important thing is that you release endorphins which will ensure you more energy for work. It also helps to break a monotonous sedentary lifestyle, especially if you have a desk job.
Relax. Take some “me” time. Go out with friends. Spend quality time with your family. Indulge yourself by doing whatever you want during your free days. This will help you gain a sense of normalcy. This will help you get ready for another work week.
