Taking a Lie Detector Test
A polygraph test or popularly known as a lie detector test determines whether a person is telling the truth or not. This has been used for quite some time now by investigators interrogating suspects involved in criminal and other cases. Just take the case of Russian spy Aldrich Ames who passed two polygraph tests without being detected.
A lie detector test records a person’s physical data that includes the pulse rate, perspiration, blood pressure and skin resistance. An individual who’s lying will show signs of abnormal brain activity through his or her physical condition. But despite the popularity of this test, many people are still questioning its accuracy. The doubt stems from cases where guilty people were able to cheat a lie detector test and escape scot free.
Polygraph results are not considered as valid evidence in court. Perhaps one reason for this is due to the widespread doubts that have been surrounding this test. There are some who claim a 95 percent accuracy rate for this test while some believe the accuracy rate is only 60 percent. However, if for any reason you become subjected to a lie detector test in the future, it’s best to learn about the secrets to cheating it as early as now.
Stay cool. Being cool in any stressful situation is a positive attitude people should learn to develop. Instead of entertaining your nervousness, why not combat it by telling yourself to stay cool and that you will get through it. Being calm has its benefits because you are not only able to think well and act right but you can cheat a lie detector test as well. Remember that lie detectors record heart rates and pupil dilations so to avoid irregularities, better keep your cool.
Do overreact. Be aware that a polygraph test has control questions which are answerable by a yes or no. They can be tricky sometimes and these questions are usually the ones used to compare against your reactions to relevant questions. So you should do then is to overreact while giving your response. By overreacting, the polygraph will give different readings to both the regular and control questions. This way, there will be no basis for your reactions.
Breathe normally. Controlling your breathing is important because the way you breathe will be monitored by the machine throughout the session. If you’re nervous, you may experience difficulty in breathing or fast breathing which may be detected as lying. Do the best you can then to breathe as normal as possible just like when you’re going through your daily routines.
Give one-word answers. When asked, make sure to answer only with one word. No need to provide an explanation. Giving more details could make your more nervous which the machine could easily detect. Just give a yes or no to the basic questions.
Ask beforehand. If it’s possible, you can ask the types of questions that will be asked of you during the polygraph test. Practice then by answering the questions in your mind just like you’re answering a test.

what about the “trueth serum” ( thiopental, petothal sodium) ?

( thiopental is a drug wich was primarily used as an injectable general anaesthetic. in lower doses than those required for general anaesthia, the drug was found to put the ‘victim’ in a state of so-called disinhibition which is a state in between full conciousness and deep general anaesthesia. a state in which the person answer any question directed to him/her truethfully, i.e. tells what he/she beleives is true/ what relly happened, in other words confesses!).
the reason for asking such a question is that in that state of disinhibition, HANNIBAL LECTER answered questions directed to him by giving a recipe ( the way of cocking some food)!
i wanted to know whether this is possiple in real life and if so how.
