Baby Teeth Baby Teeth Care

Even though baby teeth are just temporary doesn’t mean that they should receive less care. Here are some tipz on how to take care of your children’s baby teeth:

Start as early as possible – even if babies don’t have teeth yet. Clean the gums by using a soft cotton cloth or a gauze, or you can buy a rubber cleaner from baby stores. Wipe and massage ever so gently.

Once your children have grown teeth (or a tooth), follow every meal with water. This allows rinsing of semi-solid food particles. Never put your baby to sleep with milk. Chemical reaction caused by the milk and bacteria in the mouth can lead to tooth discoloration. Use a pacifier instead.

Once your children have enough teeth for brushing, use age-appropriate toothbrush with very soft bristles. Non-fluoride toothpaste will be suitable for children who can already rinse their mouths properly.

Take your children to the dentist. This can be done as early as they are a year old. This will help you know of any problems and provide intervention early.
