How to Take Care of Your Cats

catHere are some tips on how to give your cat a happier, healthier, and longer life:

Cats are not human. Never, ever give your pet kitties medicine that are intended for people. Even aspirin is toxic to cats, and most especially aspirin substitutes have been proven to be fatal. Always have your cat examined by a vet who will then give you the right prescription

Cats, especially kittens, are very curious. To make sure that you prevent your pets from getting into accidents, arrange a few safety precautions in your home. Put screens on windows so the cats won’t run into running motors and fans. Put small objects away, especially those that can be easily gnawed and swallowed. If you think your cat has swallowed something dangerous, take it to the vet immediately.

Always bring your cat to the vet clinic for check-ups. Make sure that it is updated on its immunizations.  These will guarantee your cat from getting ill of infectious diseases such as feline panleukopenia and the  feline leukemia virus (FeLV).

Have your male cat neutered. Male neutered cats lose their instinct to roam and fight, hence, this will also lower the chances of your pet from making contact with strays or possible diseased cats. Sprayed female cats on the other hand will prevent pregnancies and unwanted kittens.

Give your cat fresh food and water everyday. Introduce dry food to its diet as it helps in cleaning your cat’s teeth as well. Brush and groom your cats so they will be free of loose hair (which they can swallow while cleaning themselves). Check for fleas and ticks.
