How to Teach Kids What to Do When They Get Lost in a Crowded Area
Prepare your kids on how to act when you go out in a crowded public area. You can also teach them about what to do when they find themselves lost in the crowd.
Before leaving the house, dress your kids in clothes that can stand out from the crowd. You can dress them in bright colors. Or simply remember what they wear.
Teach your kids how to identify people whom they can ask for help so they wouldn’t just talk to random strangers. People who can help are the police or a security guard.
Once you enter an establishment, make it an exercise that you already point out the people they can go to if they need help.
Teach your kids to never leave the establishment without you. Remind them that whatever happens, you will find them.
Remind your kids to stay put once they realize that they are lost as it is more difficult to find them if they’re moving instead of just staying in one place.
Allow your children freedom to move on their own. Keeping them strictly by your side will only make them harder to manage as they will become antsy.Simply set boundaries such as not walking past a certain door, or not going beyond the red line.
