family Teaching Kids Simplicity

During these times when families can’t afford to be extravagant, specially in their spending, it is only wise to teach our kids the value of simplicity. Here are some tipz on how to do just that:

Always be bound by rules, and that if rules are broken, there are consequences. Everyone is included, no exception. Although each rule shoudl be explained carefully about why it is necessary, and why certain members of the family are excempted from it. This will teach your children to be more disciplined and discipline enforces bounderies which limit excesses.

Let your children be kids. Let them run and play. Buy them age-appropriate toys. Buy them only what they need. Everything else should be treated as rewards, especially if they continue to behave properly, or do well in school, or if is their birthday or on Christmas. Letting them have more than they need will only make them want more. Teach them to be content with what they have but do not deprive them of basic necessities either (otherwise this won’t work). They will grow up soon enough so don’t be too much in a hurry to buy them cell phones or computers.

Avoid bringing drama around a child. If you let your children see negativity, they will easily pick up on this. If adults need to talk, then send the kids to their room and do your drama elsewhere. You should not give children reason to be violent and mean.
