Teaching Kids to Eat Healthy
They say kids are picky eaters. They would rather munch on death traps disguised as food. This is due to what they see what other people eat whether from TV or from their peers. Here are some tipz on how to make sure your kids develop a healthy eating habit:
Be a good role model. If you want your kids to eat healthy, make sure that you eat healthy too. No use in “forcing” them to eat vegetables when they see you eat only meat all the time.
Get your kinds involved. Choose the week’s menu with them. Take them with you when you go food shopping, or even when you cook food. Exlain and teach them the health benefits of the vitamins and minerals found in each food and why additives are bad for them.
Be creative and add variety to the menu. Try to add flavor to the meals by adding herbs and spices. Introduce different kinds of food too. This way, your kids will have lots of choices. They’ll be able to pick favorites from a wide vareity of healthy food.
Have at least one meal together in a day as a family. Make it a fun time so they’ll know that eating need not be torture. Never force your kids to clean their plates. Encourage them to get multiple helpings of small servings so they’ll know when they’re full.
Schedule snacks and meals so they don’t feel hungry in inappropriate times. Don’t bribe them with food. Never threaten them or punish them for not eating. Find out what they want and don’t want and figure a way that would resolve the issue without having to resort to a meal battle.
