Traveling with Baby

Taking a baby on a road trip with you needs a bit more preparation. Here are a few tipz to avoid hassle while on the road:

Don’t forget to prepare the following:

  • baby bag (diapers, baby wipes, medicine pack, food clothes)
  • infant car seat
  • pacifier clips
  • baby toys
  • music tapes
  • car sunshade
  • plastic bags
  • cooler

Travel during the day, or when your baby sleeps the most.

Plan your route. Make sure that you have plenty of convenient stops for nursing, feeding, and diaper change. Your baby can get fussy especially when they are cramped in his car seat. Take your baby out of the car seat during stops.

Attach toys to the car seat using pacifier clips.

Soft music can soothe weary babies. Bring along cds of “baby music” which you can play to calm baby when he becomes fussy.

Protect your child from the sun and the heat. Try to travel early in the morning or late in the afternoon when it’s a lot cooler. You can bring a car sunshade for added sun protection.

Don’t forget to bring a cooler where you can put bottles of formula or baby food. Plastic bags also come in handy for holding trash (used diapers, baby wipes, etc.).
