How to Travel with a Dog

Here are tips if you wish to take your littlest family member with you when you go on a road trip.

If your dog is not familiar in riding in a car, make sure that you gradually introduce your pet to the experience by taking him or her to rides for a week before the actual trip.

If you’re going to stay in a motel or hotel during your road trip, make sure you call in first so you’ll know if they will allow pets in their establishment.

Prepare the passenger or rear seat. Make it as comfortable as possible. If it leans out the window, or try to fidget in its seat, firmly but gently reassure your dog and put it back to the intended seat.

Bring plenty of food and fresh water. It wouldalso be better if you bring your pet’s regular dishes so that it’ll have something he is familiar with.

Don’t forget your pet’s favorite toy to help it calm down. Treats are also good if your pet is behaving nicely.

Take your dog out for some potty time. Make sure you do it in an appropriate lace. Don’t forget to bring your poop scooper and some plastic bags. Clean up after.

Always keep your dog in a leash if you take it outside. You’ll never know if it’s too nervous with the new experience that he might attack anyone.

Your last resort is a pet cage. But this is only if your dog is extremely nervous.
