Stop! Don’t call a plumber just yet. Save money by unclogging that dreadful sink first. Here are some easy steps to do just that:

First, remove the sink strainer (or plug if that’s what your sink has) from the drain. If the sink is not full, fill it halfway with water.

Take a plunger and place it over the drain. Make sure that the rubber cup of the plunger is full of water. Plunge using a careful but forceful stroke. Repeat for a few times. Remove the plunger and give the sink some time to drain itself. Once the drain is unclogged, run hot water down the drain for several minutes.

If this doesn’t work, use a drain cleaner. Read the instructions carefully. Do not mix chemical agents. If you still can’t resolve on your own, then it’s time to call the plumber.
