How to Use Olive Oil for Home Beauty Treatments

May 6, 2010 | In: Beauty and Grooming

Olive oil is not only good (and healthy) for cooking. It’s also a good oil to use for home beauty treatments. It’s rich in vitamin E which makes the skin healthy and it also has antioxidants which can make skin look younger.

Measure about two to three tablespoons of olive oil and pour it into warm bath water. You can also add the same amount of your favorite essential oil. Soak in this special bathwater for at leat 10 minutes. This will leave your skin supple and soft.

Put several drops of olive oil on your palm and lather it on your skin after your evening shower. Massage it thoroughly unto your skin. Make sure you do this at least 30 minutes before you go to bed so that your skin absorbs more of the oil and so you won’t stain your sheets as well.

Mix a bit of honey and olive oil. Apply it on your face after washing it thoroughly with water and your favorite facial wash. Leave this honey and olive oil mask for 15 to 20 minutes before washing again with just warm water.

You can also get a cotton ball soaked with olive oil to rub on your fingernails and toenails. This will condition your cuticles. Get a nail brush and brush after thirty minutes.

Rub a few drops of olive oil between your palms and apply on your hair, focusing on the ends. This will help seal split ends. It will also make your hair glossy.

You can also use olive oil a a conditioner. Simply mix 1/2 cup each of olive oil and honey. Massage thoroughly into your hair and unto your scalp. Cover your head with a shower cap or wrap your head in a warm towel. Leave for at least thirty minutes before rinsing with lukewarm water.

For better results, use just a little of olive oil and use the highest grade of olive oil.
