Driving the Company Car
Driving your company car also involves etiquette. Here are stuff you need to remember if your company has given you permission to use their vehicle:
Make sure that you follow the company policy to the letter. If this means signing out the vehicle before using it, don’t forget to do it. Book the vehicle in advance to make sure that it is available for your use on the date or dates that you need it. Other people may need to use it too, and booking it will officially schedule the use of the car.
Drive safely and courteously. If you’re hot-tempered when you drive your own vehicle, try to curb your temper even for just this instance. It is not yourself that you need to take care of, but the reputation of the company too, especially if you have the company logo displayed on the vehicle for everyone to see.
Keep the car clean and neat. Even if the company has its vehicles maintained and cleaned regularly does not excuse you from being a slob in it. Make sure that you pick up wrappers, foodstuff, and other things that you have dropped in there before you hand it over back to the company.
Keep records such as mileage used, destinations, and gas receipts. Make sure that the information there is accurate and legible.
Never use the company car for personal use. Enough said.
