How to Wash Feather-Stuffed Jackets

The following tips and suggestions will help you wash feather-stuffed jackets without having to take them for dry-cleaning.
The first thing you need to do is to detach collars, cuffs, and other accessories from your jacket. Most of these items are buttoned, hooked, zipped, or taped by velcro.
Wash your jacket on its own. Do not wash with other items. Use warm water. Hot water might
damage the nylon in the jacket. Use only mild detergent. Avoid bleach and other stuff you usually use regularly.
Set the washing to gentle cycle. If it has a “no-agitate” option, choose this as well.
Remove the jacket immediately when the cycle ends. Do not wring the jacket.
Put in the dryer and with it, put three clean and brand new tennis balls. These will help fluff up your jackets nicely. Do not use dryer balls.
Use normal setting and not the delicate setting as the latter will not be able to move enough air around the jacket. Run the jacket through the drying cycle more than once.
