How to Write an Invitation to a Wedding Reception
July 29, 2010 | In: Manners and Etiquette, Weddings

Some couples who are going to be wedded usually have a small wedding involving close friends and immediate family members, but invite more people to the reception.
In this case, you may want to know how to write invitations to people who are only invited to the reception.
Have seprarate wedding cards for these guests. Make sure that they match in style. You may want to change the color a bit to differentiate from the actual wedding invitation.
Word the first part of the invitation (the sentence that states who is inviting the guest to the wedding) like any normal wedding invitation. If the parents of bride and groom are paying for it, it shoud begin with the names of the bride and groom’s parents. If the couple are paying for the reception, then the couple’s names should be indicated instead.
For example:
“Will and Tammy Jones invite you to celebrate the union of Bill Harris and Jenny Jones with a reception. The reception will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday, August 7, at the Blue Graden. A private wedding will precede the reception.”
Never indicate information about the time and place of the wedding.
