Money
Increasing Savings

Here are more ways to save money, especially this coming new year. Saving more and spending less can be a great new year’s resolution for everyone!

Work out a budget and the best and most important part is to stick to it! Be realistic as to what you can actually save. Better yet, gather all your bills from this year and compute your average expenses on utilities and such. Find out how much you spend on leisure items as well and base your budget for next year on this information. Try to cut down on areas which you can. For example, learn to cook instead so you spend less on eating out.

Learn to know quality. Do not be fooled by brand names. Instead, be a more intelligent consumer and find cheaper alternatives which are of the same quality as those branded items.

Do not buy more than what you can consume. Buy in bulk only items which you always use. Example of this is toilet paper. Otherwise, stock up cupboards up to a maximum of a month so you won’t end up having items that are already beyond their expiration date.

Save! Save! Save! You can ask help from your HR department or your employer so you can enroll your payroll for automatic savings in your bank account. This way, you are sure that a part of your pay goes straight to your nest egg.
