A polite, pleasant and friendly receptionist who will greet employers, guests, and clients can surely brighten up anyone’s day. Experienced receptionists also know how to expertly deal with clients and irate customers. They also perform other tasks such as fielding and screening phone calls.

Food is always an important factor. A vending machine for snacks and beverage, or a water cooler and coffee machine that is open to everyone can surely make a surly employee, especially if the grumpiness is because of lack of refreshment.

Another way to make a company more human is to make the office layout more open. Make sure there is enough lighting. Brighten up the office with light colored walls and you can even introduce some indoor greenery.
