I disagree with the suggestion of trading a financed vehicle in for a leased version. Refinancing is a good idea, but leasing a vehicle should only be done by those who can take a vehicle tax deduction. That certainly is not the average employed person. The only thing you end up with at the end of a lease is a piece of paper. When you pay off a car, you have the car and no more car payments for as long as the car lasts which, today, can be a minimum of 10 years. If you've never been without a car payment, you have no idea what you're missing. I always suggest that you never buy a car unless you can pay cash for it. It's a long term savings goal but well worth it.

The first thing that all should do is to get a copy of their credit report from all three bureaus. Look through and make sure that everything is the way it should be. The next tis really to set a budget in place. Write it down and see where you can cut out some of the expenses. Cooking at home instead of eating out; look at cutting telephone bills, electric bills, cable, TV, etc. Look at all of the different features that come together and see what you can do without. You can save a lot of money on services that you don't use and don't need. This will help you find extra cash on a monthly basis. You will be able to start paying down the credit card debt and repair your credit rating.
