Vacation Tipz: How to Make Your Credit Card Work For You

Your credit card company can actually help you manage your spending when you go on trips and vacations. Simply call your credit card company and talk to a customer service representative and ask.

Be prepared. If you are traveling abroad, ask about any additional overseas charges. Some companies add 2% on currency conversions, which means you will spend more if you use your credit card. Knowing this can help you prepare enough cash to bring with you instead.

Ask if they can extend your limit for short period of time (namely during your vacation). This will ensure that you have a contingency paln just in case you run short of cash during your trip.

This last bit should be done at your own risk. You can ask for an additional card for use as back-up. You can ask use this for security deposits on your hotel and if you plan to rent a car during your vacation.
