Windows 7: How to Configure User Account Control
October 27, 2009 | In: Computers
If you think you’re rid of that annoying prompt that asks you to deny or allow certain tasks to be done. Sometimes this can be as simple as launching an application and being prompted to launch one can be hell of an annoyance. I understand that UAC makes Windows a lot safe but it just ruins user experience.

Well, Windows 7 still implements UAC and the prompt will still come out once in a while but at least you can configure how it behaves.
Here’s how:
1. Access the Control Panel
2. Clcik on System and Security then click on Change User Account Control Settings. It’s under the Action Center heading.
3. Drag the slider to the options provided:
- Always notify – You will be prompted to allow or deny all processes that would make changes to your computer including apps and changes in Windows settings.
- Default – Prompts you only if apps will make changes to your system but not when you change Windows settings.
- Notify me only when programs try to make changes to my computer (do not dim mydesktop) – Same as default only your screen wouldn’t fade out when it prompts you.
- Never notify – For the risk junkie. UAC never notifies you about anything.

4. Click OK
