Windows 7: How to Find Out How Hot Your PC is Running

November 8, 2009 | In: Computers

One of the greatest advantages of multi-core technologies is that you can multitask to your heart’s content. Do that with the old single core computers and you’d notice a significant drop in performance. But are you pushing your computer too hard?

This shouldn’t be much of an issue with good old desktops since they do get plenty of ventilation with their bulky casings. But for laptops/notebooks, it can be a big issue.

While the designs have greatly improved and processors more efficient, pushing your computer too hard can still generate a lot of heat and for the novice user, that blast of hot air from the vents can cause you to worry.

All you need is a simple app to tell you in real time how hot your processors are running and of the free ones, Core Temp is probably the best. In its basic settings, it tells you the temperature readings for each of your processor’s cores.

It works with Windows up to Windows 7 for both 32 and 64-bit versions.
