Windows 7: How to Take Screenshots Using the Snipping Tool
November 2, 2009 | In: Computers
Here’s yet an improved feature of Windows 7 that would give users especially bloggers something to be happy about is the new screen snipping tool. It’s basically part of Vista already but, as a feature, we’re glad 7 retained it.
Prior to Windows Vista, people had to purchase screenshot software or at least a viable photo manipulation software to be able to effectively take images from their screen. Pressing the Print-Screen key has become quite the tedious chore.
With the Snipping Tool, however, users are now able to create screenshots using something readily available in Windows.
To use the tool, simply:
1. Hit Start key and start typing “Snipping Tool” in the instant search bar
2. Select Snipping Tool
3. Click the New Snip buttong and select any of the following:
- Free-form Snip
- Rectangle Snip
- Window Snip
- Full-Screen Snip

4. Drag your cursor to make the appropriate snip or screenshot

5. Annotate the image with Pen, Highlighter or Eraser tool

6. Save the image as any of the following file formates: PNG, GIF, JPEG, and MHT
7. Or click Send Snip to send it to your friends.
8. You can also copy the image and paste it in your documents or other applications
