Windows 7: How to Turn Off Aero Snap
March 12, 2010 | In: Computers, Consumer Electronics
Many would say that Aero Snap (that feature where Windows 7 automatically snaps your windows into place when you hover over your screens edges when moving the windows) is one of the best things that ever happened to the Aero interface. Personally, I think it’s a bother.
I don’t want Windows to even “suggest” what i do with my Windows so I just turn it off. The thing with Aero Snap, however, the feature’s “off switch” isn’t located where you’d expect it to be. No, it’s not in the Personalize window you get when right-clicking on the desktop. It’s actually with the Ease of Access settings.
Here’s how to turn it off:
1. Open the Ease of Access Center. You can do this by hitting the Windows key/clicking on the Windows Start orb.
2. Type “ease of” in your Start search bar. Ease of Access Center will show up in the Start menu. Click on it to launch it.

3. Click on “Make mouse easier to use.”

4. Look for “Prevent windows from being automatically arranged when moved to the edge of the screen” and make sure that it has a check mark.

5. Click OK to exit. Close all the other windows.
That should turn Aero Snap off.
