Windows 7: How to Use Windows Aero

The “new” GUI for more premium versions of Windows 7 is dubbed Windows Aero. This is technically available since Vista and is designed to create a Windows version of the fancy Mac OS X GUI which features animated icons and transparencies.

The trade off with this fancy GUI is that it does take a bit of resources and your computer needs to meet the following specs:
- 1 Ghz processor
- 1 GB of RAM
- 128 MB graphics card
- DirectX 9 compatible GPU
Windows Flip. When Alt-Tab was introduced a few Windows versions back, many of us thought, that was one of the best things since sliced bread. Pressing Alt+Tab in Windows 7 activates the Windows Flip which is basically a strip in the middle of the desktop with thumbnail previews of the currently opened documents and applications.
Flip 3D. For a better visual treat, you might want to press the Windows key+Tab in order to activate Flip 3D. Basically it displays your windows as a transparent 3D stack on your desktop. Continuously pressing Tab would cycle throught the stack.
Live Thumbnails. Hovering your mouse over your Taskbar items would basically display Live thumbnails of the apps and docs currently open regardless of whether it is minimized or maximized.
Aero Shake. Now that’s not all for Windows 7′s version of Aero. It also introduces a cool new feature called Aero Shake. Aero Shake basically gives you a way to minimize and restore all open windows save for one window. All you have to do is to click and hold on the title bar of your selected window and drag it back and forth. All the other windows will minimize or be restored. Pretty nifty.
